German President Returns to Luanda from Huambo Province

Africa-Press – Angola. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier left Huambo province on Thursday afternoon after a few hours of work as part of his state visit to Angola, which began on the 4th of this month.

During his stay in Huambo, the German statesman visited important scientific, industrial, and social projects, such as the construction site of the future Bio veterinary and Animal Vaccine Production Center, a €125,221,858 project financed by German banks, where he learned about the progress of the construction work, which began in 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in early 2026.

The German Head of State also visited the facilities of The HALO Trust, a non-governmental organization involved in demining, as well as the “Princess Diana” Center for Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation.

He also took a train trip between Huambo and Caála, a distance of 23 kilometers, with a stop at Nossa Senhora do Monte Sanctuary.

After completing his agenda, the President of Germany returned to Albano Machado Airport, where he received farewell greetings from the Angolan delegation, which included the governor of Huambo province, Pereira Alfredo, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tête António, among other dignitaries.

The Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos; Transport, Ricardo de D’Abreu; and Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, also witnessed Steinmeier’s farewell before his return to the country’s capital, Luanda.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s visit to Huambo, as part of his state visit to Angola, which began on the 4th of this month, is part of the strengthening of cooperation between Angola and Germany, whose diplomatic relations date back to 1979.

The two countries maintain a comprehensive partnership, signed in 2011, covering the areas of energy, infrastructure, science, agriculture, and technical and vocational training.
