Africa-Press – Angola. The bishop of the Church of the Kingdom of God in Angola, Alberto Segunda, praised on Friday in Luanda the role of the Church in the struggle for national liberation, in consolidating peace and in the development of Angola.
Speaking about the celebrations of Angola’s 50th anniversary of national independence, which will be marked on the 11th of November, the religious leader considered the Church to be a fundamental pillar of national liberation, peace consolidation and development in Angola, emphasising that evangelical missions were among the first movements that drove the awakening to independence.
He also sdaid from the beginning, the Church has fulfilled its social and spiritual role, working for the pacification of spirits and reconciliation among Angolans.
He noted that even after the end of the war, the Church remained steadfast in its commitment to reconciliation and human development, acting as a partner of the state and civil society in building a more just and harmonious Angola.
‘The peace that has been achieved is not something symbolic; it is a real asset that must be valued and preserved. We must remain focused, work together, grow together and never forget that God must be at the forefront as the guide of the nation,’ he stressed.
Reflecting on the gains of 50 years of national independence, Alberto Segunda highlighted the advances made in education, health and infrastructure, considering them to be concrete signs of progress.
‘Today we see cities growing, roads, schools and hospitals being built. Angola has developed a lot, but there is still much to be done. The important thing is to keep the faith and believe in a better future,’ he said.
The religious leader also pointed to agriculture as the engine of development and called for greater involvement of citizens in this strategic sector.
‘If all Angolans have the vision to produce and create projects within the country, we will achieve the Angola we all desire, united, joyful, reconciled and productive,’ he emphasised.
