Gambos Library Gains a Thousand New Works

Africa-Press – Angola. The Gambos Municipal Library in Huíla was reinforced this Monday with a thousand books from two collections of 11 classics of Angolan literature, increasing the variety of reading and consultation options for users.

These works were donated by the academic Altino Kapala Kayela, and delivered by his brother, Benedito Kapala Kayela, who stated that another thousand books are on their way to be delivered to the library.

Benedito Kapala Kayela emphasized that the initiative constitutes an act of social responsibility, where the objective is to support the administrative authorities of Gambos, who do everything to ensure that the municipality’s population has a library that facilitates the pursuit of knowledge.

In turn, the Municipal Administrator of Gambos, Francisco Barros Leonardo, praised the gesture, which increases interest in reading among children, young people, and even adults, because whoever reads a book is no longer the same person.

He stated that the municipality will make appropriate use of the books, reinforcing the promotion of a love of reading through the reading and writing competition already developed in one of the municipality’s schools, as well as encouraging it in other schools in the communities.

He appealed to other sectors of society to follow the same example, as initiatives of this kind help to encourage a love of reading among the citizens, giving more opportunities for the education of young people and others.

With the donation, the Gambos Municipal Library, located in the village of Chiange, currently has a collection of more than four thousand and five hundred books.
