Work Stoppage Decreed for Next Monday and Tuesday

Africa-Press – Angola. The Luanda Province Government (GPL) on Thursday declared Stoppage of Work in the capital, meaning exemption from public and private labour activities, on the 24th and 25th of the current month, throughout the province, due to the 7th African Union-European Union Summit.

According to a GPL statement, the decision is the result of special contingency measures taken to guarantee security, considering the undeniable impact on road traffic and the mobility of Luanda citizens, which will host the major meeting.

It is supported by the Law on National and Local Holidays and National Celebration Dates, as well as the Law on Local State Administration.

The document states that the public holiday does not apply to those working on a shift system and ensures the normal functioning of essential services.

The African Union-European Union Summit aims to promote cooperation and dialogue between continents and peoples, as well as the importance of promoting peace and prosperity through effective multilateralism.

As part of the event, an intensive working session will be held in different parts of the province over the two days.

The summit will include the participation of various political and economic entities from Africa and Europe, including more than 75 presidential delegations and heads of government from member countries.
