Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to the United Kingdom, José Patrício, presented on Friday his credentials to the Executive Director of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), Vanúsia Nogueira, at the institution’s headquarters in London.
With the presentation of his credentials, José Patrício officially becomes the representative of the Angolan State to the ICO, an organization that brings together 42 member states, mostly coffee producers, associated on a voluntary basis.
During the ceremony, the ICO’s Executive Director detailed the institution’s structure and its role in promoting development policies among member countries, with the aim of supporting the adoption of best management practices in the coffee production, consumption and export chain.
Vanúsia Nogueira highlighted the good coordination between the ICO and the National Coffee Institute of Angola (INCA) and expressed openness to collaborating with Angola in implementing management models applied by other member countries, considering the country’s potential to increase coffee production.
Ambassador José Patrício presented the current profile of coffee production in Angola, emphasizing that, after the interruption caused by the war period, the sector is experiencing significant growth.
