Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 1.82% in the third quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

According to the National Accounts released by the INE, in the period under review, the oil sector registered, for the fourth consecutive quarter, a contraction of approximately 7.77%, offset by the growth of the non-oil sector of 4.14%, an increase of 0.70 percentage points compared to the previous period.

The main activities that contributed positively to the GDP variation in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024 were Public Administration, with 0.020%, diamond extraction (0.014%), organic oil extraction (0.013%), and transportation and storage (0.008%).

Regarding the sectoral analysis, the Gross Value Added of Agriculture registered a growth of 3.53% in the third quarter of 2025, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, contributing positively with 0.27 percentage points to the overall GDP variation.

The document justifies that this variation occurred due to the increase in agricultural production by 3.63%, which holds more than 70% of the sector’s weight.

The Gross Value Added of Fisheries and Aquaculture, however, fell by 6.73% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, contributing positively with 0.13 percentage points to the overall GDP variation.

This decrease in overall volume was essentially due to the decline in indicators for industrial and semi-industrial, maritime, and artisanal fisheries, which together represent more than 95% of the sector’s weight.

On the other hand, the Gross Value Added of Oil decreased by 7.77%, contributing negatively with 1.94 percentage points to the overall GDP variation. This variation originated from the drop in crude oil extraction of around 10.79%, as it represents 93.08% of the sector’s weight.

The data indicate that the Gross Value Added of Diamond, Metallic Mineral and Other Non-Metallic Mineral Extraction registered a growth of 0.98% in the third quarter of 2025, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, contributing positively with 0.04 percentage points to the overall GDP variation.

This increase resulted from the slight growth related to the quantities of diamonds extracted by 1.26%, which holds more than 95% of the sector’s weight.

According to the data, the Gross Value Added of the Manufacturing Industry showed a positive performance of 13.02% in the third quarter of 2025, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, contributing positively with 0.72 percentage points to the overall GDP variation.

This growth was driven by increased industrial production, mainly in the subsectors of cereal and legume processing, bakery products, beverage production and meat slaughtering, which together represent more than 70% of the sector’s weight.

Other indicators include electricity, water and sanitation production with growth of 0.52%, the sector of construction registered growth of 2.72%, commerce which grew 3.29%, accommodation and food services registered an increase of 13.62%, and transportation sector registered a growth of 2.90%.

However, the communications sector saw growth of 55.67%, financial intermediation and insurance with 6.95% growth, the government saw a growth of 9.21%, real estate services with a 3.40% increase, and other services registered a 6.15% growth.
