Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of State for Water, António da Costa, announced on Monday (08) in Luanda that continuous training and capacity building of human capital is a primary instrument for developing skills for performing functions in the public sector.

According to the official, who spoke at the seminar on “Strategic Management of Human Resources in the Public Sector,” improving the productivity of companies necessarily involves intervention aimed at increasingly improving the strength of human resources to meet current challenges.

In this reason, he said that continuous investment in human capital is crucial to overcome potential future adversities.

Regarding the seminar, he mentioned that it is a milestone that should continue, considering that resources and human capital are the core of any organization, so the way they are managed directly influences the achievement of the objectives of employees and the organization itself.

In turn, the director of the Office of Personnel of the President of the Republic, Edson Barreto, provided training and capacity building for professionals as the best way to overcome the challenges that emerge from the current reality, such as the inclusion of artificial intelligence and others.

The director of the Human Resources Office of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS), Edson Horta, highlighted that the area of human resources began to be very prominent in 2014, with the creation of the Human Resources Office and the definition of the profile of its manager.

According to the official, the initiatives result from the reform measures allowed for structural change in the human resources management process, because any reform measure or action that companies develop is done by people.

The event, which runs until Wednesday (10), in the country’s capital, under the motto “Valuing and empowering human capital to improve the quality of public services”, is part of MINEA (Ministry of Energy and Water) administrative modernization policy and its continuous commitment to institutional and human development.

The seminar features the participation of national and international experts who address, among other topics, issues such as “the role of human capital in the public business sector”, “the challenges and paths of human resource management in the public service” and “human resource strategy in the public sector”.
