Africa-Press – Angola. The Tunisian Aidi Youssef won, on Friday (12), the gold medal in the men’s singles table tennis tournament at the 4th Edition of the African Youth Games (AYG) taking place in the country’s capital, defeating Egyptian Abdemalk Abhe in the final by four sets to three, with scores of 11-5, 13-11, 11-6 and 11-7.
Abdemalk Abhe had to settle for silver, while Nigerian Matheu Faburmi won bronze, completing the podium.
In the women’s competition, gold went to Yara Elbadawy of Egypt, who defeated Tunisian Elsa Said in the final by 4-0, with scores of 11-4, 11-5, 11-8 and 11-2.
Ugandan athlete Jemimah Nakawala won the bronze medal.
The competition is taking place at the Tony de Jesus High Performance Table Tennis Center, in the Cidadela Desportiva, Luanda.
The doubles event is scheduled for Saturday (13), with Angola facing Rwanda.
