Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said this Thursday in Luanda that 40 percent of the diamonds produced in Angola were sold by a couple abroad.
President João Lourenço revealed the fact during the press conference he gave today to public and private media, namely Jornal de Angola, Rádio Nacional de Angola, Televisão Pública de Angola, ANGOP, Rádio LAC, TvZimbo, Novo Jornal, O Country, Rádio Ecclésia, MFM and Jornal Expansão.
“Other family members of the couple, together in the context of what they called privileged customers, sell 60% of Angola’s diamond production. of the bank loan”, underlined João Lourenço.
The Head of State said that it was time to put an end to this party, so that today diamond producers with the new marketing policy can “market, themselves, up to 60 percent of the diamonds produced and sell to SODIAM the remaining 40 percent cent”.
With this measure, he said, Angola is bringing back the giants of the diamond sector, such as De Beers, which recently resumed activities, among other mining companies.
