Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA President Adalberto Costa Júnior launched a political book entitled “Together for Angola – Another Step Towards Freedom” this Tuesday in Luanda.
The 215-page book is a compilation of photographs and texts depicting key moments from the pre-campaign and the 2022 election campaign.
Speaking at the book launch ceremony, which in its first edition has a print run of six thousand copies, Adalberto Costa Júnior stated that the writings go beyond the political-partisan register, showing people, social realities and the cultural diversity of the country.
He added that the images and documents gathered allow for a cross-sectional reading of present-day Angola, including democratic challenges and the difficulties faced during electoral processes.
Adalberto Costa Júnior further emphasized the need for a democratic political environment with fair and transparent competition.
In this context, he highlighted that the party he leads intends to once again form a broad political front for the next elections, considering that no single party, in isolation, can solve the country’s problems.
The author believes that his writings are a contribution to the preservation of Angola’s recent political history and to reflection on the country’s democratic future.
In turn, academic Justino Pinto de Andrade, when presenting the book, stated that it presents the socio-political context of the 2022 general elections, making reference to the entire political process prior to the elections, including the constitutional changes introduced since 2008 that allowed for the holding of this electoral process.The pre-campaign, he said, was a landmark moment and is very well portrayed in photographs.
In his view, “the work is rich in images of the people who made history, because the story is told here not only in words, but above all in faces and gestures.”
This is followed by a portrait of the campaign itself, of the long journeys across the country, of the crowds that accompanied us and believed in us.
He also said that the book, in his view, also addresses the voting period and the post-election context.
For him, those who analyze the work will be able to understand how the UNITA campaign developed and the expectations it created.
