Africa-Press – Angola. Visitor visas granted to Angolan citizens for entry into Brazil will have a validity period of five years, instead of the current two, starting Febuary 1st of the current year.

The decision, announced by the Brazilian government, aims to promote mobility and exchange between the two countries.

With this change, Angolan citizens will benefit from greater convenience and predictability in traveling to Brazil for tourism, business, family visits, or participation in events, facilitating the need for visa renewal requests.

The initiative is seen as a strengthening of bilateral relations between Angola and Brazil, facilitating mobility and promoting cultural, economic, and social exchange.

With the new rule, the deadline is more than doubled, while maintaining the main conditions already in force. The visa will continue to allow multiple entries, with stays of up to 90 days per entry.

The measure applies to the Visitor Visa (VIVIS), intended for travel for tourism, business, transit, as well as for participation in artistic or sporting activities, without engaging in paid activity in Brazil.

According to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty), the decision aims to strengthen bilateral relations, facilitate the movement of people and deepen the historical, cultural and economic ties that unite Angola and Brazil.

For visa application purposes, Angolan citizens may continue to use the Consulate General of Brazil in Luanda or the VFS Global portal, the official center responsible for receiving visa applications for Brazil in Angola.

The change comes in a context of increasing mobility between the two countries, marked by regular flows of students, businesspeople, artists, and tourists, and is seen as an important step towards making the process simpler, more predictable, and more favorable for Angolan travelers.

Currently, the two countries maintain agreements and memoranda in areas such as human rights, security, renewable energy, culture, and sustainable development.

Angola and Brazil established diplomatic relations in Nov 1975, with the South American country being the first to officially recognize Angolan independence.

The signing of the General Agreement on Economic, Technical-Scientific and Cultural Cooperation marked the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations, serving as a basis for joint development between the two States.
