Africa-Press – Angola. The Ombudswoman, Florbela Araújo, stated on Wednesday that the Ombudsmen Office has been reinforcing its work in combating violence and sexual abuse against children, with a special focus on situations of high social vulnerability.

Florbela Araújo added that, last week, the Ombudsman’s Office received in hearing family members of a child recently victim of rape and that after analyzing the case and hearing the mother, the child and a sibling who did not attend school were guaranteed placement in the Dom Bosco Home.

The magistrate said that contacts are being made with the administration of Sambizanga to guarantee the integration into the education system of three other children from the same family.

She added that trips to other provinces include regular visits to foster homes, nurseries, and schools, with the aim of assessing the existing conditions and the degree of adaptability of the infrastructure.

The magistrate underscored that awareness campaigns have been promoted among the population regarding domestic violence, highlighting the responsibility of parents and guardians in monitoring the daily lives of children, as well as in overseeing the origin of offers or benefits received.
