UAE Group Aims to Invest USD 500 Million in Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. The UAE-based AL DAHRA group plans to invest 500 million US dollars to boost agricultural development, strengthen the country’s food production, and generate job opportunities.

The announcement was made by Stuart Donald, head of agriculture at the Dubai-based company, at the end of a visit to assess investment opportunities in northern Cuanza-Norte province.

He said the company intends to produce corn, soybeans, beans, and sunflowers on a large scale in the country for animal feed production for export to Arab countries.

Currently, AL DAHRA officials are visiting several provinces in search of land up to 10,000 hectares with abundant water for irrigation, improved access, and electricity for project implementation.

In Cuanza-Norte, the group noted the agricultural potential of the municipalities of Lucala, Samba Cajú, and Caculo Cabaça, which they consider quite interesting due to the excellent rainfall, soil, and abundance of water.

The vice-governor for the Political, Economic, and Social sector of Cuanza-Norte, Esperança Rodrigues, on her turn, assured that the local government is providing all the necessary support to ensure that the project remains in the province, having already made available an area of 20,000 hectares, double the intended amount, should they decide to invest in the region.

“The provincial government is open, in fact, as you know, our province is rich in water resources, we have arable land, we have energy, we have everything to offer,” she said.

AL DAHRA has investments in the agricultural sector in Romania, Serbia, Egypt, Morocco, Namibia, the United States, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina.

At this moment, it intends to expand its activities in Africa, where it believes there are many investment opportunities.
