Africa-Press – Angola. The Indian ambassador to Angola, Vidhu P. Nair, visited on Monday (16) the province of Icolo & Bengo, with the aim of obtaining concrete information on areas suitable for investment.

In statements to the press, after a courtesy meeting with the provincial governor, Auzílio Jacob, the ambassador learned that Icolo & Bengo is a new province with great potential and, therefore, they plan to invest in areas such as construction, education, health, agriculture, hospitals, tourism, and mining.

He stressed that he will soon return to that province with Indian delegations to identify their cooperation area, given that they received guarantees and total freedom to invest in Icolo e Bengo.

The diplomat announced that, as part of a training project, India is willing to grant scholarships to Angolans and, on that occasion, invited entrepreneurs from Icolo & Bengo to invest in that South Asian country in mutually beneficial areas.

It should be recalled that Indian investments in Angola are focused on health, construction, mining and tourism, and, particularly in Icolo & Bengo, they invest in the hotel industry and agriculture, with future plans to expand into the ceramics and mining sectors.

It is estimated that there are more than 200 private companies investing in Angola, with several billion dollars.

In turn, the Icolo & Bengo’s provincial governor, Auzílio Jacob, said that the visit of the Indian diplomat was satisfactory, as it allowed him to get all the information about local potential and suggest priority areas for investment and partnership.

“Our priorities are for all areas, especially technical and professional training, support for doctors in telemedicine, education, health, among others,” the governor said.
