Africa-Press – Angola. The candidate for Secretary-General of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), Emília Carlota Dias, appealed this Tuesday in Benguela for the strengthening of family cohesion and education, following her electoral campaign.

During her speech at a mass rally in the city of Benguela, Carlota Dias stated that it is important to raise awareness and support young people, encourage girls to stay in school, and promote values of responsibility and citizenship.

She also touched on children’s reproductive health, appealing to the women’s organization within the MPLA to mobilize so that maternal and child health becomes a priority.

“The province of Benguela is privileged to have the Port of Lobito, the Benguela Railway, and the Lobito Corridor, where a great deal of investment circulates for economic growth. However, without social inclusion, inequalities may deepen,” she stated. The candidate highlighted that if the Lobito Corridor projects Angola to the world, organized women must ensure that progress strengthens the family and the community.

“The OMA (Organization of Angolan Women) does not replace state institutions, nor does it execute public policies, but it mobilizes consciences, forms leadership, advocates for solutions, and influences decisions,” she stated.

On the occasion, she praised the women of Benguela province for their courage and resilience regarding the family economy.

On the other hand, the first secretary of the MPLA in Benguela province, Manuel Nunes Júnior, recalled that candidate Emília Carlota Dias has a long, rich, and proven history of activism.“We are very hopeful for a more promising and brilliant future for Angolan women, worthy of history, considering the high prestige that the OMA has already earned in Angola and the world,” she stated.

In her view, with Carlota Dias at the helm, the OMA will be increasingly dynamic, inclusive, and prepared to face the challenges of the present and the future.

“We hope that the eighth OMA Congress, which will take place soon, will be a true journey of political mobilization, strengthening unity and cohesion, towards victory in the next general elections of 2027,” she concluded.

The candidate for Secretary-General of the OMA began her electoral campaign on February 7th, having visited several provinces, such as Lunda Norte and Sul, Moxico, Moxico Leste, Cuando, Cubango, Huambo, and Bié.

Emília Carlota Dias joined the OMA in Huíla province in 1998.
