SODIAM Announces Auction of 74 Special Rough Diamonds

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan National Diamond Trading Company (SODIAM EP), in collaboration with Trans Atlantic Gem Sales, holds from Feb 23 to March 3 of the current year, in Luanda, an online auction of 74 special rough diamonds, weighing 10.80 carats or more.

Viewing sessions will take place at SODIAM’s headquarters, and the bidding process, which will be conducted electronically, closes at 10:00 AM on March 4.

In a press release, the Angolan diamond company clarifies that the auction is aimed at clients registered in its database with experience in trading special stones.

Of the lot to be auctioned, 37 stones are from the Luele project, 14 from Catoca, 8 from Mussende, 5 from Kaixepa, the same number from Chitotolo, 2 from Lulo and Cuilo Kwenda, as well as one from Somiluana and another from Furi.

The document states that a detailed participation package will be provided to invited participants in due course.

This is the 10th rough diamond auction organized by SODIAM since 2019, the last one having been held in Sept 2025.

Founded in Nov 1999, SODIAM is the state-owned company responsible for the marketing of diamonds in Angola.

The production marketed through SODIAM originates from 27 mining companies, including kimberlite and alluvial deposits, and covers the entire spectrum of qualities in terms of size, shape, purity, and color.

In 2025, SODIAM exported approximately 17.8 million carats of rough diamonds for a total value of approximately US$1.8 billion, corresponding to an average price of US$101.70 per carat, which positioned Angola as the 3rd largest producer of rough diamonds in the world in terms of value.
