The regional director of Africell, Mário Nascimento, encouraged users, in the province of Benguela, to join the Afrimoney service, as the platform is an essential instrument for the population’s financial and digital inclusion, especially those sectors that are not yet banked.
In statements, the official warns that the predominant use of physical money entails high risks, such as increased logistical costs, greater exposure to robberies and others.
“The Afrimoney function emerges as a response to these challenges, by allowing access to financial services to a segment of the population that is often forgotten”, he stated.
According to the official, through the Afrimoney digital wallet it is possible to make payments, receive and transfer money, as well as pay for essential services such as electricity and water, avoiding travel and waiting lines.
The service also has the advantage of working on both smartphones and conventional ones, through USSD technology, which, according to Mário Nascimento, facilitates and expands the process of digital and financial inclusion throughout the country.
Mário Nascimento stressed that connectivity is a key element for digital inclusion, adding that this has been one of the main strategies of the Angolan Executive to promote financial inclusion, in a context where a significant part of the informal economy remains outside the banking system.
He also took the opportunity to highlight that the operator’s strategy involves making available, in retail, an integrated set of services and products, including SIM cards, voice and data plans, promotional packages such as “Tudo e Todos” (Everything and Everyone), “Fala com Todos” (Talk to Everyone) and “Socializa” (Socialize), as well as technological devices, with emphasis on 4G and 5G phones and routers.
Africell is a US mobile technology company that inaugurated its operations in Angola in 2021.
