Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan state oil company Sonangol and TV Cabo are among the 39 companies excluded from the Privatization Program (PROPRIV). Initially, 49 companies were included on the list of assets to be sold. The program maintains the sale of state shares in ten companies.
The information was disclosed on Tuesday by the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos, at the end of the meeting of the Commission for the Privatization Program, chaired by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano.
Among the companies that will remain, whose privatizations will take place later this year, he mentioned Angola Telecom, Banco de Comercio de Angola, Endiama, Nova Cimangola, Standard Bank Angola, TAAG, Unitel, Grupo Média Nova, TV Zimbo and Special Economic Zone Development Society.
The Privatization Program is an initiative launched by the Angolan Government (2019 and 2026) to sell off public companies and state assets, with the aim to reduce the role of the state as an entrepreneur, promote private investment, increasing the efficiency of the economy and diversifying the public business sector.
The initiative ended 2025 with a cash inflow of 700 billion kwanzas, out of a total of 1.275 trillion kwanzas contracted. This result came from 121 privatizations.
At least 5.000 jobs were also created and maintained.
