Africa-Press – Angola. The National Police seized a total of 218 diamonds of various carats in the province of Lunda-Norte for illegal possession and trafficking during ‘Operation Connection’.
According to National Police spokesperson, Domingos Muanafumo, a total of 571,000 kwanzas,as well as 295 kilograms of cannabis had also been seized.
He also highlighted the detention of 782 foreign nationals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo for attempting to illegally enter Angolan territory via the Luremo, Camaxilo, LoĢvua, Chitato, Dundo, Cambulo and Canzar border posts.
Of the detained immigrants, he said that 82 were children and that they intended to settle in diamond-mining areas and reach the capital, Luanda and that, after legal procedures had been completed, the citizens were repatriated.
