Africa-Press – Angola. The “Kaminho” Floating Production, Storage and Offloading Unit, under construction in the Chinese industrial city of Nantong in southeastern Jiangsu Province, is 50% done, according to the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET).
According to a note from the ministry on Thursday, the strategic projects for Block 20 intended for the development of the national oil sector and could contribute to attracting new investors to the basin where the project is located.
For the minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, who is working in China this Thursday to assess the project’s progress, the progress achieved is a positive sign for the future of oil exploration in the country.
The statement adds that Diamantino Azevedo took the opportunity to thank all the professionals involved in the project, recognizing the high technological complexity of the ongoing work.
“This is a tremendous undertaking, requiring a high level of competence and dedication. The completion of half the project demonstrates the commitment and technical capacity of the teams involved. I want to encourage everyone to continue with the same level of commitment”, the minister emphasized.
The minister also addressed the young people involved in the project, encouraging them to seize the opportunity, not only to contribute to the country’s development, but also to gain experience and skills in the oil sector.
Regarding the deadlines for the floating unit’s construction, Diamantino Azevedo reiterated the importance of strictly adhering to the schedule and appealed for additional efforts to, whenever possible, anticipate the completion of the works.
He added that any reduction in the execution time will represent significant gains for the country and the sector.
The construction of the platform is part of the Angolan government’s strategy to strengthen oil production, diversify the economy, and consolidate Angola’s position as one of the main oil producers in Africa.
