Angola is a Country with Great Ambitions, Says Aliou Cissé

Africa-Press – Angola. The new coach of the Angolan National Football Team, Senegalese citizen Aliou Cissé, stated on Monday in Luanda that Angola is a country with great ambitions for its international stability in sports.

He was speaking to the Angolan press in his first statement after being received in an audience granted to him by the minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão.

Regarding the meeting, he considered it important as coach of Angola’s national football team, due to the ambitious project that national citizens intend to undertake in the coming years.

He stated that, once again, he could feel the pulse and responsibility that the authorities have for football, adding that he arrived in Angola with great expectation.

The new national team coach took the opportunity to express that he already feels the country’s ambition, for which, according to him, the key to success will certainly be hard work.

He stressed that he was eager to work with the players and his team at the start of a development project that has optimistic goals.

Aliou Cissé reported that, after watching the games of the main national football competition, the “Girabola”, on Saturday and Sunday, he was able to see the quality and potential of the players.

For him, the National Team (also known as Sable Antelopes) will be open to all local players to value domestic competition, regardless of Angola having many players competing abroad.

He informed that he is already working on the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) dates in June, this year and highlighted that the team has a base from the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), but needs to observe all the players and know their current form to integrate or reintegrate them into the national team.

Aliou Cissé guaranteed that the priority for the next preparation games will be against African teams, without ruling out the possibility of facing opponents from other continents, from whom the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) has already received invitations.

He emphasized that the important thing is that the work is done together to form a great national team.

Therefore, last weekend, the new coach of the national football team visited some stadiums, such as the 22 de Junho and Coqueiros stadiums, located in the province of Luanda, and also attended the matches between Interclube and Petro de Luanda and Guelson FC against Luanda City, valid for the 22nd round of the Girabola 2025/26.

As for Monday, Aliou Cissé ́s schedule includes a meeting with the national technical directorate at the Sequele Training Center in Icolo e Bengo Province.

He was officially presented on Thursday and became the 37th coach of the Angolan national football team, replacing Patrice Beaumelle from France.
