Africa-Press – Angola. The administrator of the National Institute of Statistics of Angola, Teresa Spínola, stated on Monday in Huambo that the institution maintains its focus on providing official information on Angola’s economic, social, and demographic indicators in a decentralized manner.

Teresa Spinola was speaking to journalists after presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the new heads of provincial departments and sections of the INE in Bié, Cuanza-Sul, Cuando, Cubango, and Huambo, within the framework of Presidential Decree No. 43/26, of March 10, which approves the institution’s new organic statute.

Spínola mentioned that the current challenge is greater, considering the need to reliably ensure data on the country’s growth or decline, as well as to coordinate all statistical operations of public interest in the 21 provinces.

She also said that providing official statistical data is one of the main responsibilities of the INE (National Institute of Statistics), as the focus also involves the broad dissemination of information and greater proximity to the various areas of local production.

Teresa Spínola stressed the importance of diversifying the statistical products made available, in order to meet the needs of provincial governments, municipal and communal administrations.

She called for greater dynamism and dedication from the new heads of departments and sections in the Central/Southern region of the country.

She also encouraged the adoption of new methodologies and work techniques, with a view to strengthening the quality and reliability of national statistical information.

The heads of departments of the INE in the provinces of Cuanza-Sul (André Quitumbala), Bié (Ruben das Dores Nunes), Huambo (Ruben Chitancumbi Gomes), Cuando (Mevece Viele Chameia) and Cubango (Zergi Flávio Justino) were sworn in, as well as the respective heads of the Economic and Social Surveys section.

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) is the central body of the National Statistical System (SEN), responsible for the production, coordination, and dissemination of high-quality official statistics. Its mission is to provide accurate and timely data on economic, social, and demographic indicators to support the country’s development and decision-making.
