Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Head of State João Lourenço returned to the country’s capital early Thursday evening after witnessing the inauguration of Denis Sassou Nguesso for a new five-year term in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
In the Congolese capital, the President, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, was one of the guests of honor at the inauguration ceremony alongside other African leaders.
Among the invited heads of state were the presidents of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, Rwanda, Paul Kagame, Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, and Togo, Faure Gnassingbé.
In addition to the Heads of State, the ceremony includes the participation of prime ministers, vice presidents, presidents of African parliaments, as well as delegations from regional and continental organizations, notably the Economic Community of Central African States and the African Union.
The event took place at the Concordia Stadium in Kintélé and was attended by thousands of people, including figures from politics, diplomacy, economics, and other fields.
