Africa-Press – Angola. The Norway national team has become the sixth team to qualify for the Round of 32 in the World Cup currently taking place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, after defeating Senegal 3-2 in the second round of Group 9 in the group stage of the tournament.

Marcus Pedersen opened the scoring for Norway in the 43rd minute, before Erling Haaland added a second goal in the 48th minute, continuing his scoring streak for the second consecutive match in the tournament.

Ismaila Sarr reduced the deficit by scoring Senegal’s first goal in the 53rd minute, but Haaland struck again, netting Norway’s third goal in the 58th minute.

Haaland has reached 4 goals with the Norway national team in this edition of the tournament, having also scored twice during his team’s 4-1 victory over Iraq in the opening round.

The match heated up once again after Sarr scored Senegal’s second goal in the third minute of stoppage time in the second half, as the Senegalese team attempted to snatch an equalizer in the remaining time, but to no avail.

Norway has raised its points tally to 6, sitting in second place, trailing France (the leader) on goal difference, as both teams advance to the knockout stages of the competition ahead of their next round match.

Meanwhile, Senegal remains in third place with no points, trailing Iraq, which is in fourth place on goal difference, ahead of their upcoming match in the final round, where both teams aim to secure three points to claim third place and keep hopes alive for qualification to the knockout stage by being among the best 8 third-placed teams in the 12 groups of the first round.
