Africa-Press – Angola. Luanda – Angolan state-owned energy companies have been participating since Monday in Accra, Ghana, in the 60th Ordinary General Assembly of the African Electricity Companies Association (ASEA).
The event, which runs until Friday, brings together African companies, operators and experts to analyze the main challenges facing the industry, strengthen regional cooperation and promote solutions for sustainable development on the continent.
The Angolan delegation is headed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PRODEL and Vice-President of ASEA for the Southern Africa region, Pedro Afonso, and includes representatives from RNT and ENDE.
At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Director-General of the Egyptian Electricity Company (EEHC), Mohamed Abdelatif, highlighted the strategic importance of energy for the development of countries, stating that “energy is not only essential for society, but is fundamental for any nation”.
Participants analyze matters of common interest to the African electricity sector, the association’s activity report, the financial statements of previous years, and strategies to strengthen technical and institutional cooperation among ASEA members.
In a note sent, PRODEL states that Angola’s presence at the event reinforces the role of national companies in the main African cooperation platforms, promotes the exchange of experiences, innovation, and the strengthening of regional interconnection partnerships to guarantee the region’s energy security.
