Africa-Press – Angola. At least 118 people died in Moxico Province from January to November 2025. Twenty-four of those deaths were suicides, and others were caused by fires, suicides, crocodile attacks, and electric shocks, reported on Monday the provincial commander and deputy firefighters commissioner, Miguel Bernardo AntoĢnio.
Antonio reported that the operational situation in the province regarding fires and calamities is concerning. There have been 366 incidents and 264 victims, 118 of whom were fatal.
He also mentioned 129 fires, 38 of which were medium-sized and 91 of which were small, as well as 156 traffic accidents, 29 drownings, 24 suicides, and 13 electric shocks.
He identified short circuits (64), open fires (31), negligence (10), and gas leaks (3) as the main causes of the fires, which resulted in estimated material damage of 212,660 kwanzas.
“Our daily work requires courage, discipline, and a spirit of sacrifice. Each operational outing tests our readiness, training, and commitment to citizens,” he exclaimed, encouraging the corporation to remain steadfast in its mission.
