The Criminal Investigation Service in Lunda Norte has seized, in the last three days, 756 diamond stones of different carats, in illicit possession of three national citizens, in the municipalities of Cambulo, Lucapa and Cuango, within the scope of the operation “Quadra Festiva Segura “.
The information was provided Sunday, by the institution’s spokesman, Graciano Lumanhe, stressing that the detained citizens were forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the subsequent steps, while the diamonds will be delivered to the outpost of Operation Transparency, in Malanje.
Graciano Lumanhe appealed to the population residing in diamond exploration areas to collaborate with the authorities, denouncing the mining.
On the other hand, he informed that, in the scope of the same operation, a tanker truck with 18 thousand liters of gasoline was seized, in the municipality of Xá-muteba, for smuggling fuel.
According to the official, the said truck left Luanda without Sonangol’s authorization and was destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
