Africa-Press – Angola. The poet and writer António Gonçalves is honored today, at 17:00, at the headquarters of the Union of Angolan Writers (UEA), in Luanda, for his contribution to the development of national literature.
The tribute takes place in the usual “Maka à Wednesday”, which will have as “Mysterious Song That Acena Com os Pés – Remembering António Gonçalves” and the participation of his contemporaries Norberto Costa, Ngonguita Diogo, António Pompílio and KB Gala.
The secretary for cultural activities at UEA, Nguimba Ngola, told that the objective of this initiative is to honor the achievements of António Gonçalves, who would have turned 62 today.
Deceased on October 15, 2020, António Gonçalves, a poet with international experience, has his fingerprints in several poetic anthologies, namely the Brazilian one entitled “Antologia do Mar na Poesia Africana de Língua Portuguesa do Século 20th Century”, coordinated by Carmen Lúcia Tindó Ribeiro Secco, published by Editora Kilombelombe.
António Gonçalves was born in Luanda, on August 10, 1960. He started writing in 1973, which culminated in his first prose book in 1978, entitled “Scenes that Musseke knows”, having also written “Gemido de Pedra”, ” Libertine Verses”, “Red Abode of the Earth”, “Searching for Man: Poetic Anthology”, “Transparencies”, “The Voices of the Path”, “El Sétimo Camino” and “Threshold of Transmutations”.
