Africa-Press – Angola. The African Development Bank (ADB) has invested around US$3 billion in the public sector in Angola, one third of which in projects still in progress, and wants to attract the private sector to this source of funding.

According to the ADB representative in Angola, Pietro Toigo, the institution’s activity in the country has increased significantly in the last decade, especially in the last five years, but for the time being only with public sector projects.

Angola joined the African Development Bank in the 1980s and since then the financial institution has invested around US$3 billion in the country, with 53 loans and donations having been approved.

A third of this amount is related to 11 projects currently being implemented, with emphasis on the energy sector, which absorbs 50% of the total, says Lusa.

The remainder is distributed among the Agriculture (about 12%), Water and sanitation (12%), Finance (12%) and social (9%) and multisector sectors.
