Africa-Press – Angola. The administrators of the municipalities of Longonjo (Huambo), Cangandala (Malanje), Cahama (Cunene), Uíge and Luanda shared, on Friday, the strategic vision on the applicability of public policies, with a focus on good governance.

The sharing was made during the discussion on the “Experiences of Young Leaders in Governance”, within the framework of the 1st National Workshop on this topic, promoted by the Ministry of Territorial Administration (MAT), which took place in the city of Huambo.

Municipal managers defended the need to pay greater attention to the continuous training of public administration staff, with investments in the energy and water sectors, communication systems, improvement of roads and basic sanitation.

They also highlighted the development of agriculture, urbanization projects and the capture of financial income through mineral resources as a priority for social and economic progress.

They highlighted the need to “fine-tune” the effective control of the process of collecting financial revenue, so that it is possible to increase social and economic projects, with direct repercussions on the lives of citizens.

On the occasion, the administrator of the municipality of Longonjo, Wilne Ekuikui, suggested the capture and direct benefit of financial revenues resulting from the exploration of “Rare Earths” and other mineral resources, in favor of collective well-being.

Wilne Ekuikui defended the need to make more investments in the agricultural sector, to contribute to improving food security and reducing the price of the basic food basket, with the involvement of peasant families.

In his approach, the administrator of the municipality of Cangandala, Dilangue Domingos, said that the administrative authorities are engaged in agricultural and livestock promotion, to achieve sustainable development, as well as in the awareness campaign against children dropping out of school, for the construction consistent of local frameworks.

He said that the municipality lacks investment in the expansion of electricity, the improvement of access roads and the continuous training of human resources, for the quality of service to the public.

The administrator of the municipality of Cuanhama, Orlando Camati, said he had implemented a communication program between communal administrations, through the placement of Internet points, to process specific information of public interest and decisive for the promotion of social and economic development.

In turn, the administrator of the municipality of Uíge, by the way the youngest in Angola at just 30 years old, José Teka, said his focus was on boosting family farming with the program to combat poverty, with a production area of 300 hectares of land.

He also highlighted, as a priority, the protection of the environment and the improvement of basic sanitation.

In her intervention, the administrator of the municipality of Luanda, Milca Caquesse, pointed out close communication with citizens, through social networks, as one of the strategies, to better monitor citizens’ social and economic problems and, at the same time, respond promptly to your needs.

He said that programs on basic sanitation and the reorganization of commercial activities are other work challenges, to improve the living conditions of Luanda’s residents.

At the event, with more than 300 guests organized by MAT, the “Mentoring” project for Leaders of Excellence in Local Administration was launched.
