AEA reiterates the church’s responsibility in consolidating peace

Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary general of the Evangelical Alliance of Angola (AEA), Alexandre Saúl, reiterates (Sunday), in the province of Cabinda, the role of the church in moralizing and consolidating peace, reconciliation and national unity.

The prelate assured that the church’s challenge must be to instill in people the spirit of love, respect for difference, humility, citizenship and patriotism.

Alexandre Saúl, who has been on a seven-day pastoral visit to the city of Cabinda since Thursday, highlighted the silencing of weapons and the movement of people and goods as fundamental aspects of peace.

“Human beings by nature are selfish and always want everything for themselves, and this already undermines peace, which is why the church’s discourse must be one of moralization, based on moral and civic values”, he admitted.

He added that the aforementioned church has received many young people in its internment and counseling centers and has carried out work for their social integration.

On the other hand, the religious asked for the faithful’s collaboration in raising awareness in society about the importance of preserving public goods.
