Africa-Press – Angola. The current context of growing global economic uncertainty and the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement remains a focus of the seminar participants’ agenda.

At the opening, the Executive Vice President of Afreximbank, Intra-African Trade Bank, Kanayo Awani, explained that the Afreximbank Trade Finance Seminar 2022, held for the first time in a face-to-face environment since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, is geared towards developing the skills of participants and dealing with the increased demand for trade finance following the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area and addressing the challenges of financing transactions in the face of increasing uncertainty in the global economy.

“This year’s Trade Finance seminar was designed to, among other things, briefly update our understanding of the current crisis and the implications for the continent; present many of Afreximbank’s crisis containment programs as well as programs to accelerate the development and expansion of trade in Africa, while reminding us of essential credit risk mitigation and compliance tools to mitigate the impact of the crisis on various institutions,” said Kanayo Awani.

As he reiterated, this will also help the understanding of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, which is an important path for the development of the continent and for Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.”

In Uganda, there are more than 200 representatives from African financial institutions, accompanied by professionals from regulatory agencies, corporations and law firms.
