The Angolan ambassador to the United States, Agostinho Van-Dúnem, reaffirmed, on Monday, the ties of cooperation and the spirit of fraternity between the member states of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). The statement was made during a luncheon organized by the Angolan Embassy in that country, in celebration of the Day of the Portuguese Language and the cultures of the CPLP, according to a note sent.
During the meeting, the diplomat reiterated Angola’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic, cultural, economic and political relations within the CPLP, highlighting the role of the Community as a platform for diplomatic coordination.He also proposed coordination between the missions in Washington on issues of common interest, with a focus on joint economic promotion, the strategic use of the Portuguese language and collaboration with institutions such as the US Congress, think tanks and multilateral bodies.
Ambassador Van-Dúnem also highlighted the importance of diaspora communities as living bridges between the CPLP countries and the US, encouraging the sharing of good practices in consular and cultural matters.
In conclusion, he invited the sister missions to collaborate in the celebrations of Angola’s 50th anniversary of independence in November, as well as in future joint events promoting the CPLP in Washington.
