The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, António Francisco de Assis, will open the 2024-2025 Agricultural Campaign across the country today, starting at 10:30 am, in the municipality of Dembos, Bengo province, under the motto “Family Farming, the Right Path to Sustainable Increase in Agricultural Production”.According to the activity program released to the press, before the launch of the campaign the National Anthem will be sung, followed by the cultural moment and speeches by the supervising minister and the provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba.
The program also includes seed launching in the agricultural area, demonstration of small agricultural mechanization equipment, demonstration of soil correction, delivery of agricultural equipment by the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA), agricultural inputs and visits to Agricultural Field Schools.
Registered families
Of the 43 thousand registered families, the Bengo Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office selects a certain number, with the purpose of providing agricultural inputs.
In this region, 150 thousand hectares of land were prepared for the production of differentiated products, such as cassava, sweet potatoes, cereals, tomatoes, onions, cabbage and bananas.
The Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office also planned 450 tons of fertilizers and 100 tons of seeds, which will be distributed to farmers and agricultural cooperatives.
On the occasion, the provincial director of Agriculture and Forestry of Bengo, Faustino Ngonga, guaranteed that the conditions were created for the start of the Agricultural Year and congratulated the minister António Francisco de Assis, for indicating Bengo for the opening of the campaign.
“At this moment, we have everything ready to start the activity tomorrow (today). For us, it is a source of pride and I congratulate the management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for providing us with this moment”, the official told.
