Africa-Press – Angola. The Association of Economic Journalists of Angola (AJECO), which celebrates Saturday, 27 years of existence, will work towards creating an award for “Best economic journalist” and with two or three other categories
According to the association, the creation of this award, still without a date, aims to stimulate and value professionals who deal with economic and financial matters in the country.
In addition, AJECO’s management and its partners will work on the institutionalization of a National Economic Journalism Prize, to stimulate the creativity and technical-professional rigor of journalists who deal with economic matters.
According to its president, João Joaquim, the Association is also focused on stimulating research and investigation into economic issues, as well as creating an Economic Press Observatory, with a view to contributing to informative pluralism, to the diversity of media and in the exercise of cross-referencing information.
Another challenge for AJECO is to encourage debate and the exchange of ideas between professionals dedicated to the treatment and dissemination of economic matters throughout the country.
According to João Joaquim, the Association believes that economic journalism is a fundamental tool in building bridges and platforms for understanding between the various economic and social actors in the free exercise of activity or in the dissemination of science and economic theory.
In this sense, he assured, AJECO will continue to create a partnership based on training and refreshment of professionals, with the implementation of different training cycles.
For the leader of that Association, “the commemoration of yet another anniversary serves as a reflection and marks a visceral turn in the way of positioning in the face of the challenges of increasingly dynamizing the scope of a more active economic journalism”.
With the motto “Dynamize for a more active economic journalism”, AJECO, founded on August 12, 1996, is a voluntary non-governmental, non-partisan organization, endowed with legal personality, with administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy.
