Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan diplomat Alfredo Dombe presented this Friday, in Madrid, letters of credentials to King Philip VI that accredit him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola to the Kingdom of Spain.
During the event, Alfredo Dombe, who becomes the eighth Angolan ambassador to Spain, conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to the Spanish sovereign.
The new ambassador was appointed on March 7 last year by the President of the Republic, to boost relations between Angola and Spain, within the framework of the new paradigm of economic diplomacy with which the country intends to attract more foreign investment.
In the brief exchange of views between the monarch and the Angolan diplomat, the desire of the two States to deepen the already very strong relations of cooperation and friendship was reiterated.
The support of the Kingdom of Spain to transform Angola into a tourist destination on international routes, with the construction of Spanish hotel chains, was one of the concerns presented by the ambassador.
Cooperation in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, higher education, oil, defense and security, health, and new technologies were at the center of conversations between the two entities.
The Angolan diplomat also took the opportunity to reiterate the desire to strengthen bilateral relations within the scope of Iberophony, with the opening of the Cervantes Institute in Angola to boost the teaching of the Spanish language in Universities and training centers in our country.
Within the scope of its foreign policy, Spain considers Angola a priority country, as proved by King Felipe VI’s first state visit to this African region, Angola, in February 2023.
Cooperation between the two countries has intensified in the business sector, with the presence of Spanish companies in Angola, operating in various areas.
Angola is a strategic partner of Spain in Africa. Bilateral relations entered a new phase, with the introduction of joint policies aimed at continuing cooperation in broader areas of intervention and common interest.
The relationship between Angola and Spain dates back to the post-independence period and is marked by strong ties of friendship and cooperation that are manifested in Spanish investments in the construction of electrical infrastructures, university education, health, transport, geology, water treatment, fishing, information technologies, tourism and industry, among others.
