Africa-Press – Angola. The outgoing ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Florêncio de Almeida, held a courtesy meeting on Monday (29) with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Viera, during which he officially presented his regards farewell.

On the occasion, the head of Brazilian diplomacy expressed satisfaction with the current state of political and diplomatic relations between Angola and Brazil and wished the outgoing diplomat success in his next mission.

On the sidelines of this meeting, a farewell ceremony for Ambassador Florêncio de Almeida was also held at Angola’s official residence in Brazil, attended by members of the Brazilian Government, Civil Society, diplomats and representation officials.

When taking the floor, Florêncio de Almeida said that he leaves with the feeling of having done his duty, having thanked him for the support given to him by different Brazilian and foreign entities, in the last four years in which he directed the Diplomatic Mission.

Florêncio de Almeida thanked the Angolan authorities, in particular President João Lourenço, for the indication and trust placed in him, in the fulfillment of yet another State Mission, as well as for the support and facilities provided in his mandate and the tireless efforts made towards to promote and strengthen relations between Angola and Brazil.

The Angolan ambassador, who was decorated by President Lula da Silva, also deserved recognition from the African Ambassadors Group, the CPLP, SADC, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, the Embassies of Gabon and Portugal in Brazil and the Government of State of Bahia, in separate tributes.

Florêncio de Almeida, who was in office in Brasília from 2019 to 2023, and is also Angola’s non-resident ambassador in Colombia, Peru, Guyana, Suriname, Chile and Venezuela.
