Ambassador Geraldo Nunda Highlights the Role of Angolans in Building the Country

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland, Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda, said this Saturday in London that every Angolan should feel like a part of the construction of the country and national unity.According to the diplomat, who was speaking during the celebration of Angola’s Independence Day, “national unity has allowed us to rebuild the country and consolidate peace. And it is internal cohesion that drives us to face adversity and enrich our identity.”

The ambassador said that Angola, with its vast wealth and hard-working people, can build a robust economy. He stressed that production is synonymous with economic progress and wealth generation, valuing the work of each farmer, worker and entrepreneur.

Geraldo Nunda stressed that it is necessary to strengthen the production of primary goods and the manufacturing industry that adds value to resources, with the capacity to meet internal and export needs.

The ambassador noted that the date carries the memory of a heroic struggle marked by change, sacrifice and commitment of a people for freedom and social progress.

During his speech, the diplomat emphasized that the nation’s prosperity is not measured by economic growth alone, but also by the ability to manage its resources sustainably, aiming to guarantee the survival of future generations, protecting the environment and the future of Angola.

“Agricultural and economic practices must protect rivers and biodiversity, reaffirming a commitment to sustainability,” he said.

Ambassador Nunda challenged the businesspeople present at the event to found the United Kingdom-Angola Chamber of Commerce with the aim of boosting economic diplomacy.

The political and cultural event celebrating 49 years of National Independence featured messages from community associations.

The representative of the Confederation of Angolan Associations in the United Kingdom (CAARU), Mário Agostinho, highlighted in his speech the fundamental role of the Angolan diaspora, since the fight for independence, and of asserting itself as a foundation for development, promoting culture, defending the interests of the community and sending financial remittances to Angola.

Promote identity

“CAARU brings together 18 legally constituted community associations in the United Kingdom with the mission of promoting Angolan identity in the world, always with the spirit of solidarity and patriotism”, he said.

The representative of the organization, founded in 2018, welcomed the rapprochement of the Embassy and the Consulate General with the community, a fact that allowed for closer ties and created opportunities for strategic partnerships in the economic sector for the benefit of Angola and the United Kingdom.

The cultural moment of the celebration was marked by the intervention of musicians Volinho, Samú and their band, all Angolans living in London.

During the event, the Angolan diplomatic mission in London presented an exhibition of “Made in Angola” products, such as coffee, honey, beans and pasta, in line with the motto of the celebrations of the 49th anniversary of National Independence “National Unity, Production and Development”.
