Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Turkey, João Salvador Neto, appealed at weekend to Angolans residing in that country to value and preserve peace, in an international context marked by several conflicts.
Speaking during the celebrations of the 24th anniversary of Peace and National Reconciliation in Istanbul, he stated that peace constitutes one of the greatest achievements of the Angolan people, the result of collective sacrifices throughout history.
João Salvador Neto considered it fundamental that citizens promote a culture of harmonious coexistence, based on mutual respect and commitment to the country’s development, as well as emphasizing the importance of each Angolan contributing to national construction and reconstruction.
The Angolan diplomat also encouraged the community to put Angola first in their actions, in order to strengthen the bonds of unity among compatriots in the diaspora.
The celebrations took place in an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie, bringing together more than 150 Angolans residing in Turkey, in an initiative by the Angolan Embassy in that country and the Consulate General in Istanbul.
The event also served to carry out the consular registration of the citizens present, in a gesture that served to bring the community closer to diplomatic and consular services.
The ceremony was attended by diplomats accredited in Turkey.
The program included cultural moments, with music, dance and tasting of typical Angolan dishes, in addition to the exhibition of a video illustrating the gains achieved over the 24 years of peace.
The celebrations took place under the motto “For the economic development and well-being of Angolans, together hand in hand”.
