Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassadors of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), accredited in Egypt, recognized the commitment that Angola has always shown in strengthening and in the commitment to the values ​​and principles of the organization.

This observation was made on Thursday, in Cairo, during a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, in his capacity as acting president of the CPLP Council of Ministers.

According to the ambassadors of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, accredited in Egypt, the commitment and dynamism of Angola in the exercise of the presidency of the CPLP will reinforce the effective growth and the strengthening of cooperation ties between the Member States in all areas.

Téte António, quoted in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, supported the activities of the Angolan presidency in the organization, as well as spoke of the main axes of action involving the CPLP, namely, the “Political-Diplomatic Agreement”, the “Economic Cooperation and Development”, and the ongoing actions in the different sectors, in line with the three pillars of the community.

At the meeting in which the ambassador of Spain and the Apostolic Nunciature accredited in Egypt also participated as a special guest, Minister Téte António listed the priorities for 2021-2023, based on harmonizing, reviewing the CPLP Statutes, and the internal regulations of the Executive Secretariat .

Other points consist of the adequacy of the Statutes of the International Institute of the Portuguese Language (IILP), promotion of a greater sense of citizenship and community, increase in commercial exchanges, alignment of the pillars of economic cooperation and development and continuation of closer collaboration between the CPLP and the United Nations, in addition to strengthening the multilateral dialogue organization and creating mechanisms to bring the different diasporas closer.

Another aspect mentioned by the head of Angolan Diplomacy, while acting president of the CPLP Council of Ministers, is the reinforcement that has been seen in terms of political consultation in third countries and within international organisations.

Angola assumed the pro tempore presidency of the CPLP for the biennium 2021-2023, on 17 July 2021, in Luanda, at the XIII Conference of Heads of State and Government of the community.
