Africa-Press – Angola. The United States of America (USA) has never given up on the Lobito Corridor project nor has it ever considered such a possibility, the president and CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) said in Washington this Thursday. Samaila Zubairu said that, on Wednesday, the senior advisor for Africa to the United States Government, Massad Goulous, confirmed this interest in supporting the Lobito Corridor.
CEO Somaila Zubairu also mentioned that around two billion dollars have already been mobilized with various partners, including an initial package of 500 million dollars from the Africa Finance Corporation.
“A large part of our commitment is to increase credit so that more capital can be mobilized. We already feel that this is going to happen, because after this dialogue a North American bank approached us,” he said.
According to Somaila Zubairu, thanks to the enormous hard work and dedication of the governments of Angola, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the concession agreement (with LAR – Lobito Atlantic Railway) was signed.
