Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, announced, this Thursday, the strengthening of cooperation between the parliaments of Angola and Zimbabwe.
In a message sent to her Zimbabwean counterpart, Jacob Francis Nzwidamilima, on the 44th anniversary of Zimbabwe’s independence, Carolina Cerqueira highlights the strong and historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, expressing the desire to continue working together for the mutual benefit of the two peoples and the progress of the region.
“On this festive occasion, I wish the Republic of Zimbabwe and its citizens continued success and triumph in obtaining excellent economic results, combined with the strengthening of its social fabric”.
The leader of the Angolan parliament also congratulated Zimbabwe for its socioeconomic advances over the last few decades, marked by its innate capacity for resilience and overcoming emerging difficulties.
“We were amazed at the way the country has progressively diversified its economy, which is now supported by several solid pillars, including agribusiness, mining, tourism, while also being a pioneer in the IT and financial services sectors”, he writes.
Angola and Zimbabwe are part of the group of 16 member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
