Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, assessed, Monday, in New York, the prevailing situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, Sylvie Mbaipo.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Third United Nations High Level Conference on Combating Terrorism, the two entities exchanged views on the UN Security Council meeting, which addresses, this Tuesday, the crisis in CAR , as well as aspects related to cooperation between the two countries.
The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, as Acting President of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), defends the end of the arms embargo on CAR and calls for more international support for peace and security, as well as the neutralizing dissident forces in the country.
The Security Council imposed a general and complete arms embargo on the Central African Republic and established a Committee tasked, among other matters, with overseeing the implementation of the sanctions regime, which expires on 31 July of the current year.
