Africa-Press – Angola. Yesterday, in Abu Dhabi, Angola and Armenia expressed their desire to begin a new phase in economic and trade cooperation relations.
According to a statement from the Angolan Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, this intention was expressed during a courtesy meeting that the Minister of Industry and Trade, Rui Miguêns, held with the Minister of Commerce of Armenia, Gevorg Popayan, on the sidelines of the 14th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM).
Minister Rui Miguêns, who is representing the Angolan Head of State at the event that ends, discussed several matters of common interest with the Armenian leader. The meeting was attended by the Angolan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Maiato.
The AIM, in which more than 100 countries participate, was opened by the President of Armenia, Vahagn Garniki Khachaturyan. A landlocked country located in the mountainous region of Eurasia, Armenia is a member of more than 40 international organizations, including the UN, Council of Europe, Asian Development Bank, World Trade Organization (WTO) and Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, among others.Angola and Armenia established diplomatic relations on 3 October 1994. Before the meeting, yesterday, in continuation of the 14th Annual Investment Meeting, the Minister of Industry and Commerce participated in the panel on “African Regional Forum – From Zones to Impact: African SEZs reinvented”, in which the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone, Manuel Pedro, was one of the speakers.
