Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and South Korea sign, on Tuesday, in Seoul, five legal instruments with a view to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, in statements to the press in the Korean capital, the agreements already identified and finalized are related to the sectors of commerce-industry, public order, health, diplomacy and investment.

Regarding President João Lourenço’s 48-hour working visit to Korea, Téte António said that it aims to strengthen relations between the two States.

During the visit, the Head of State will have four essential moments, namely a meeting with his counterpart Yoon Suk-Yeol, with the President of Parliament, as well as participating in official talks and the Angola-Korea Business Forum.

He said that Angola is developing specialized cooperation in the field of technology, industry and agriculture with this Asian country.

On the other hand, the Angolan ambassador to South Korea, Edgar Martins, highlighted, among the various Korean investments, the Advanced Technology Industrial Center, to be opened soon in Luanda.

For the diplomat, the center costing “several million dollars” will remove many young people from unemployment after training and should be replicated in other regions of Angola.

Regarding the visit of the Head of State, he said that it will serve to relaunch cooperation, in other words “it will be a turning of the page and the beginning of a new stage”.

In 1993, Angola and the Republic of Korea signed a general cooperation agreement.

During this period, four cooperation agreements, one protocol, five memorandums of understanding and two complementary adjustments were signed, the latter of which resulted in loans from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund for financing at the Korea Eximbank level for projects to be carried out in Angola.
