Angola and Namibia reinforce strategy to reduce vulnerability of families

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Namibia will reinforce strategies to reduce the vulnerability of families in their respective countries, said this Wednesday in Windhoek, the Angolan minister of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, Faustina Alves.

Faustina Alves made this statement at the meeting she had with the Namibian Minister of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, Doreen Sioka.

The meeting between the two government officials also served to exchange experiences on issues related to action, family, child welfare, the elderly, people with disabilities, gender equality and equity, domestic violence and women’s empowerment.

Angola and Namibia also intend to see a reduction in the migratory process, human trafficking and the vulnerability of families in the two States who live in poverty, according to a statement from the Angolan embassy in Namibia.

The visit by Faustina Alves is part of the commitments made during the 5th Session of the Bilateral Commission on Cooperation between Angola and Namibia held in Windhoek, in 2019, as well as the mid-term review of the 5th Permanent Joint Commission on Cooperation between Angola and Namibia held on 28 on April 29, 2021, in virtual format.

The Minister of Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion is in Namibia for a working day of at least five days to exchange experiences and listen.

During his stay in the sister country, he will visit the Namibian children’s home and visit the Osire refugee camp, 300 kilometers from Windhoek.
