Africa-Press – Angola. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Adão de Almeida, granted an audience on Tuesday in Luanda to the Rwandan ambassador accredited to Angola, Charles Rudakubana, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral and parliamentary cooperation between Angola and Rwanda.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed the current state of relations between the two countries, with a particular focus on parliamentary diplomacy, institutional exchange and deepening cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

Speaking to the press, Charles Rudakubana reiterated his country’s interest in strengthening ties with Angola further, emphasizing the Angolan Parliament’s role in reinforcing democratic institutions and fostering bilateral cooperation.

The diplomat praised the commitment of the Angolan President and chairperson of the African Union, João Lourenço, to seeking solutions to conflicts and promoting stability on the continent.

He also acknowledged Angola’s contribution to mediating the conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, having highlighted the peace agreement reached based on the Luanda resolutions.

Relations between Angola and Rwanda are based on political, technical, and economic cooperation. The two countries have signed multiple agreements in areas such as mining, health and local administration, as well as agreements to avoid double taxation.
