Multisectoral delegations from Angola and South Africa yesterday analyzed during a meeting, among other matters, the level of bilateral relations between the two member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, released in Luanda.

The delegations from both sides were led by Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, and Candith Mashego Dlamini, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa.

In almost two hours, the teams analyzed the status of legal instruments, cooperation in the field of Tourism and Environment, in addition to the possibility of holding diplomatic consultations between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and his South African counterpart. , Naledi Pandor.

Addressing the words of welcome to the visiting delegation, Secretary of State Domingos Vieira Lopes said that it can be said, unequivocally, that relations between Angola and South Africa are quite consolidated, a fact that allowed the signing of several legal instruments in different areas, with emphasis on the sectors of Defence, Health, Education, Higher Education, Agriculture and Fisheries, Industry and Commerce, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Urbanism and Construction.

Also according to the head of the Angolan delegation at yesterday’s meeting, the implementation of the various existing legal instruments between the two countries has imprinted a new dynamic on cooperation between the two States, specifically in the process of developing areas of mutual interest, indispensable for the deepening of the general lines of exchange.

The Angolan State, according to Domingos Vieira Lopes, is willing to continue to make efforts to increasingly deepen relations with South Africa, through the implementation of other legal instruments signed between the parties, as well as the reactivation of existing agreements, in in order to assess its relevance in modern times.

At last Monday’s bilateral meeting, the delegations reviewed the state of play on the Angolan community residing in South Africa and the exercise of the right to vote.

The reactivation of the Twinning Agreement between the provinces of Mpumalanga and Cuando Cubango, as well as the exploration of opportunities and perspectives for cooperation in the areas of Agriculture and Livestock, Energy, Food Processing, Ecosystem Protection, Animal and Plant Life were also under discussion. .

In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Angolan multisectoral delegation was made up of senior representatives from the ministries of Defense and Homeland Veterans, Health, Culture, Tourism and Environment, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Territory Administration, Justice and Human Rights, Industry and Commerce.
