Africa-Press – Angola. The Republic of Angola intends to sign a memorandum of understanding with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for highly complex medical areas, such as heart surgery, transplants and training of health professionals.
The intention was made public on Sunday, in Luanda, by the minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, during the reception of 239 boxes of medicines and essential medical supplies, totaling 922 kilograms, donated by the government of the United Arab Emirates.
She stated that the ministry is working to increasingly humanize hospital services and, regarding the Arab donation, took the opportunity to praise the gesture, which she considered an important step towards the modernization of health services in the country.
“This donation contributes to the efficiency and quality of care provided to the population, especially in more remote areas,” she said, reinforcing that it aims to strengthen the national health system, with a special focus on primary and secondary care units.
According to the representative of the Burjeel Holdings, Safeer Ahamed, the means includes antibiotics, painkillers and medicine for the treatment of chronic diseases, helping to improve the clinical response in municipal health units.
The official also highlighted that the act reinforces the UAE’s commitment to international cooperation related to the health sector.
He revealed that the donation is part of the previous one, which included 25 advanced support ambulances.
However, the partnership between Angola and the United Arab Emirates is seen as strategic, with a view to strengthening the National Health System. It allows for a better distribution of medical resources and promotes equitable access to healthcare for the Angolan population.
