Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and the United Nations (UN) carried out, this Wednesday, an assessment of the political and security situation in the Great Lakes region, focusing on the conflict in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
This issue was discussed between the head of Angolan diplomacy, Teté António, and the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region, Huang Xia.
During the meeting, the two entities reviewed Angola’s mediation role in conflicts in Africa, especially the efforts of President João Lourenço, as Champion for Reconciliation and Peace in Africa.
The implementation of the processes in Luanda and Nairobi were also under analysis during the meeting between the two entities.
The Resident Coordinator of the UN System in Angola, Zahira Virani, also participated in the meeting.
